Relaxation massage is all about relaxing. It focuses on giving time to recover from the stresses of daily life.

When you experience relaxation massage, you can expect a treatment that involves: long smooth gliding strokes that are rhythmic and flowing

Pressure that is deeply relaxing, but not painful

A treatment that is designed to soothe and relax you, not to relieve chronic pain or other underlying ailments.

Also, I take the environment into account, soothing music, warm soft towels, and the use of essential oils to enhance both the environment and the effects of the massage.

The Benefits of Relaxation Massage

As with any kind of massage, the benefits of a relaxation massage can last for several days after your treatment. Relaxation massage? like other forms of massage – can offer the following benefits:

  • Lowering blood pressure  at least for a while
  • Improvements to peripheral circulation
  • Improvements to skin tone and appearance
  • Improvements to gastrointestinal motility (bowel movements will become more regular)
  • Some reduction in muscle tension including the relief of muscle tension headaches
  • Improvements to any stress-related symptoms. This can include providing a gentle boost to the immune system if you undergo regular treatments.

How long does a session last?

Full body – 60 min,

Back, neck, shoulders and head – 45 min.

First treatment sessions will be 15 min longer, includes a full confidential consultation.

How maintenance massage can help me?

During day activities, your body accumulates stress and physical tension which will be captured in your muscles.

The biggest part of our health is based on good blood and lymph circulation and good quality nourishment.

Frequently massage sessions can help you to release that tension and to improve blood and lymph circulation.

The maintenance massage is for people who want to be healthy for a long period of time thru frequent massage sessions.

How often Can I do massage?

If you are fit, do you swim, do exercises regularly than you can have one session in 3-4 weeks, if you don’t have enough time for sports activities than a session in 2 weeks is recommended.

For deeper tension releasing you can opt for sports/deep tissue massage.

Contraindications to relaxing massage:

Local contra-indications are things like bruises, recent scar tissue, sprained ankle etc. And wouldn’t prevent treatment – caution will be taken to avoid the area. General contra-indications are more severe and treatment can only take place with Medical consent from your GP or other Health Practitioner. Visceral massage (Abdominal)

asd

TO BOOK AN APOINTMEN PLEASE CALL CLINIC RECEPTION ON 01788 565100

„Viscera” relates to the internal organs of the body, such as the liver, kidneys and intestines. Visceral Manipulation is a gentle manual therapy that aids your body’s ability to release restrictions and unhealthy compensations that cause pain and dysfunction.

How does it works?  (source: http://bodytechnician.com/visceral.html)

Most of our internal organs are muscular tubes or muscular sacs. Internal organs have involuntary muscle, smooth muscle. We can’t voluntarily control them, but muscular organs can hold tension, just like skeletal muscle.

Muscular organs include small intestine, large intestine, stomach, bladder, gallbladder, heart, spleen, uterus. The tension in the viscera (internal organs) can cause abdominal pain, back pain, hip/leg pain, migraines, or pain anywhere.

Trigger points can form in the tense muscle fibers, creating tension and/or referred pain in any other part of the body.

Non-muscular organs can become hardened. Internal organs can form adhesions: small fibers that abnormally attach structures that should be separate.

The liver is often hardened and adhered to the respiratory diaphragm. Releasing the adhesions allows the diaphragm to move more easily, so breathing deepens. Liver function may improve as well.

The liver and gallbladder can have trigger points that refer pain to the neck and shoulders.

Non-muscular organs (kidneys, liver, lungs, and pancreas) can become hardened. This probably inhibits blood flow. Organs can form trigger points, referring pain and/or tension elsewhere. Viscera can become stuck together (adhesions), inhibiting their movements. They can become stuck to the diaphragm, ribs, pelvis, and spine.

Organs are supposed to slide up/down with each breath, getting a little massage each time you breathe. Tense, hardened, glued- together viscera cement you into postural distortion: upper body stooped forward, low back deeply curved, one shoulder pulled down, etc.

VM therapy re-establishes the body’s ability to adapt and restore itself to health.

How Visceral Massage is done?

Abdominal muscles are massaged first until they’re relaxed enough to permit massage of the organs. Viscera is then massaged to relieve tension, and to gradually separate adhesions. No sudden movements are used. Lying with your knees and hips bent creates slack in the abdominal muscles, allowing deeper treatment.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is a word that is used to describe the dimpled effect which is most often found on the upper thighs and buttocks.  This dimpling is generally irregular and patchy and has an ‘orange peel’ appearance.  Cellulite can also be found on the calves, ankles, stomach and upper arms.  Cellulite is made up of fat, fluid such as lymph and a buildup of toxins found in the pockets of connective tissue (known as collagen) under the skin.   If the collagen weakens, the cellulite can push up through the fibres and become visible.

How does it work?

Anti Cellulite Massage Treatment is a specialised advanced massage designed to assist in cellulite reduction.

Massage consists in lymphodrainage and fast superficial strokes to increase blood circulation, loosen the fatty tissue under the skin and smooth out the surface of the skin which will promote the detoxification of waste from the lymphatic system.

Applying a combination of aroma oils (juniper, eucalypt, rosemary) and creams will help to burn fat cells, to increase circulation and to eliminate deposited toxins.

Which results to expect?

After the first session you will have burning sensation on your skin that means your circulation start to increase. After next few sessions, your Skin is smoother, firmer, drained and detoxed.

It has refreshing, decongestant and moisturising action offering the skin a rejuvenated, nice and soft aspect, restoring and natural glow, same in this way you obtain reshape of your body.

Facial Massage

As we age, our skin loses the ability to replenish lost cells, which results in sagging skin and wrinkles. While a set of anti-ageing moisturisers is a good place to start when you notice the first signs of fine lines, a facial massage will really get your skin back to it’s beautiful best.

How does it work?

By relaxing muscles and connective tissue, massaging the face softens expression-induced lines around your eyes, lips and brows, helps expel acne-causing toxins and de-puffs and brightens the eye area.

It also increases circulation, oxygenating the blood and encouraging the presence of fresh, healing red blood cells.

Benefits of facial massage:

  • Give our face glow and tone,
  • Gives a relaxing feeling,
  • Relieves tension,
  • Promotes good circulation of the blood to your face,
  • Reduces wrinkles and tightens facial muscles,
  • Normalize the moisture balance of the skin,
  • Help in reducing impurities and toxins and increase radiance.

Combining Japanese and with lymphatic drainage and acupressure and reflexology, this massage improves the complexion, assisting with toxin removal and increasing the flow of oxygen, blood and nutrients to the skin.

How long does a session last?

The First session lasts for 45 min and includes consultation and treatment.

Next sessions last around 30 min.

Contraindications:

Pregnancy massage

Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it’s also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, and the techniques will be adjusted accordingly.

How can prenatal massage help me?

Modern investigation and research are proving that prenatal massage therapy can be a very instrumental ingredient in women’s prenatal care and should be given careful consideration.

Positive effects include:

  • Lowered anxiety
  • Decreased legs swelling
  • Decreased back and leg pain
  • Improved sleep
  • Decreased levels of the stress hormone norepinephrine

In another study of pregnancy massage in depressed women, researchers found:

  • Increased levels of the „feel-good” hormones serotonin and dopamine
  • Decreased levels of cortisol, an indicator of stress
  • An overall improvement in mood

How long does a session last?

The First session lasts for 60 min and includes consultation and treatment.

Next sessions last around 30 min.

How the massage is made?

Massage is made on special massage cheer where I can have good access to massaged parts of your body, sometimes a massage table can be used for legs working.

The used medium (oil) is gentle and antiallergic.

This soothing treatment will begin with a short consultation to discuss your medical history, ensuring the massage is suitable for you and allowing me to tailor it to your specific needs.

Special massage movements will be used during the massage to help relieve any problems we may have discussed during the consultation, assisting with symptoms such as morning sickness, leg cramps, lower back pain or shortness of breath.

Is Pregnancy Massage safe?

Some doctors hesitate to advise massage during pregnancy because there is a huge variation in training.

Also, like many forms of complementary medicine, massage therapy during pregnancy hasn’t been rigorously studied with high-quality clinical research methods. One area of controversy is whether it’s safe to have a massage during the first trimester.

I will note give pregnancy massages during the first trimester. The reason is the potential for miscarriage. Some pregnancy massage experts argue that pregnancy massage doesn’t, in itself, cause miscarriage, but no research has been done to show a link between a massage and a miscarriage.

Because many miscarriages happen in the first trimester, some massage therapists and doctors counsel against first-trimester massage simply to avoid any potential liability issues should a miscarriage occur.

Is good for all pregnant women to consult with their doctor before trying massage.

When to avoid Pregnancy Massage?

Because the research on pregnancy massage is scant, many Western-trained doctors advise a conservative approach. They may even advise all pregnant women to avoid massage. There are no scientifically agreed upon guidelines. Be sure you get clearance from your doctor before you try a massage, especially if:

  • You’re experiencing nausea, vomiting, or morning sickness
  • You’re at high risk of miscarriage
  • You have a high-risk pregnancy such as placental abruption (where the placenta slightly detaches from the wall of the uterus) or preterm labor

Is possible to be required written consent from your doctor and a liability waiver from you before performing pregnancy massage.

Honey Massage

TO BOOK AN APOINTMEN PLEASE CALL CLINIC RECEPTION ON 01788 565100

The effects on  the health of honey have long  been noted by humans. The nutritional and medicinal qualities of honey have been documented in Vedic, Greek, Roman, Christian, Islamic and other texts.

Honey as a product is full of goodness. Scientists have revealed that honey has powerful antibacterial and antiseptic properties on at least sixty species of bacteria; honey is non-toxic and has strong effects. So it can be used for very sensitive skin. The composition of honey includes minerals such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium chlorine, sulphur, iron, phosphate and vitamins B1, B2, C, B6, B5 and B3.

When applied externally, honey acts as a humectant. That is, it attracts and promotes the retention of water. When added to a lotion or oil, it softens and hydrates the skin. Massage can be very relaxing or slightly painful, depending on the watched results.

Benefits of honey massage:

The effect of the honey massage can be felt almost immediately after a single treatment, helping to improve vitality and relaxing your mind and body. Honey massage will help to:

  • Lose weight
  • Remove pathogens, salts and toxins
  • Relax the entire nervous system
  • Improve blood circulation, metabolism
  • Increase the lymphatic system flow
  • Light suction provides drainage of toxins and excess fluids, whilst heavier suction can stimulate circulation to stagnant muscles and loosen fibrous adhesions
  • Cleanse, moisturise, nourish the skin and increase its elasticity (It is safe for very sensitive skins)
  • Breakdown lipid pockets (cellulite) assisting with body contouring & toning of the skin
  • Free the individual from intellectual and physical chronic exhaustion
  • Cleanse the body, increase immunity and the ability of the organism to purify itself
  • Produce soothing and rejuvenating effects
  • Eliminate acne, help dry and itchy skin.

How the massage is made?

The essence of this honey massage is the use of honey as a substance that has gluing qualities. Honey is poured over the area that is being massaged, and then the massage therapist puts hands onto this area and unglues the palms. Easy at first, „ungluing” the hands becomes more difficult with every move because the tension force increases. The massage lasts until the palms no longer stick to the massaged area, and the honey disappears from it. The actual duration depends on the type and quality of honey.

After treatment honey is removed with a wet warm towel, is not necessary to take a shower.

Contraindications:

Honey allergy, skin inflammation or infections, muscle acute inflammation, fever, recent surgery.

Cupping Massage

TO BOOK AN APOINTMEN PLEASE CALL CLINIC RECEPTION ON 01788 565100

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin; this mobilizes blood flow in order to promote healing. Suction is created using heat (fire) or mechanical devices (hand or electrical pumps).

History

There is a reason to believe the practice dates from as early as 3000 BC. The Ebers Papyrus, written c. 1550 BC and one of the oldest medical textbooks in the world describes the Egyptians’ use of cupping. Archeologists have found evidence in China of cupping dating back to 1000 BC. In ancient Greece, Hippocrates (c. 400 BC) used cupping for internal disease and structural problems. This method in multiple forms spread into medicine throughout Asian and European civilizations.

Benefits of Cupping Therapy

The British Cupping Society says cupping therapy can treat a variety of conditions. This has not been backed up by studies. But the organization says cupping therapy is used to treat:

  • Blood disorders such as anemia and hemophilia
  • Rheumatic diseases such as arthritis and fibromyalgia
  • Fertility and gynecological disorders
  • Skin problems such as eczema and acne
  • High blood pressure(hypertension)
  • Migraine
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Bronchial congestion caused by allergies and asthma
  • Varicose veins
  • Supporters also believe that cupping therapy can reduce pain and inflammation throughout the body. And they say it can promote mental and physical relaxation and well-being.

Side Effects of Cupping Therapy

Cupping is considered to be relatively safe, especially when performed by trained health professionals. Potential side effects include:

  • Mild discomfort
  • Burns
  • Bruises

How massage is done?

Through either heat or suction, the skin is gently drawn upwards by creating a vacuum in a cup over the target area of the skin. The cup stays in place for five to fifteen minutes. It helps treat pain, deep scar tissues in the muscles and connective tissue, muscle knots, and swelling.

Cupping is much like the inverse of massage – rather than applying pressure to muscles, it uses gentle pressure to pull them upward. For most patients, this is a particularly relaxing and relieving sensation. Once suctioned, the cups are generally left in place for about ten minutes while the patient relaxes.

Contraindications:

  • Pregnant or menstruating women
  • People with metastatic cancer(cancer that has spread from one part of the body to another)
  • People with bone fractures or muscle spasms

Should be avoided area:

  • A deep vein thrombosis
  • An ulcer
  • An artery
  • A pulse that can be felt
