  • Assist in the removal of metabolic waste
  • Sedate or stimulate nerve endings
  • Increase or decrease muscle tone
  • Increase or decrease muscle length
  • Remodel scar tissue when required
  • Assist in mental preparation for sporting participation

This type of massage is good for you if you suffer from:

Even if you are not a sporty person, this type of massage can help you.

In my treatments, I’m using a combination of Sports massage, Deep tissue, and Swedish massage, in this way gradually I can build less painful treatment with better results.

Techniques applied will begin with gentle effleurage (smoothing) to warm up the muscle before deeper techniques are applied.

Sports massage therapy is a deeper tissue massage than a Swedish Body Massage. During the session, you will be asked about applied pressure.

Sports massage is a great therapy that can be used to help prevent minor muscular injuries, it is also excellent therapy to help the sports person prepare their body for the rigors of training, or for a sporting activity too.

How long does a session last?

First treatment sessions usually last for 60 min, includes a full confidential consultation, posture analyze, joints mobility and a proper session.

Next sessions will be adjusted upon reassessing your condition, any improvements made, and any problems that have come to light.

All treatment sessions are personalized.

This type of massage is painful?

In addiction of your muscles tense applied pressure can be felt painful, anyway I will adjust the pressure to your bearable limits.

In practice, Ii noticed that advancing in sessions the pain will be gone or it will be less.

Visceral massage (Abdominal)

visceral_massage_internal_body_organs_massage

“Viscera” relates to the internal organs of the body, such as the liver, kidneys and intestines. Visceral Manipulation is a gentle manual therapy that aids your body’s ability to release restrictions and unhealthy compensations that cause pain and dysfunction.

Visceral Massage can benefit (VM)

  • Constipation
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Liver disorders
  • Digestive disorders
  • Pediatrics issues
  • Neuromotor problems
  • Chronic musculoskeletal pain
  • Headaches and Migraines
  • Sciatica
  • Back, hip and knee pain
  • Repetitive strain injuries
  • Restricted range of motion
  • Vertigo
  • Post-surgical pain and Scar tissue
  • Post cardiac surgery
  • Swallowing difficulties
  • Acid Reflux and Heartburn
  • Women’s health issues
  • Endometriosis
  • Fibroids and Cysts
  • Bladder incontinence
  • Ward off infection
  • Emotional disorders
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

How does it works?

Most of our internal organs are muscular tubes or muscular sacs. Internal organs have involuntary muscle, smooth muscle. We can’t voluntarily control them, but muscular organs can hold tension, just like skeletal muscle.

Muscular organs include small intestine, large intestine, stomach, bladder, gallbladder, heart, spleen, uterus. The tension in the viscera (internal organs) can cause abdominal pain, back pain, hip/leg pain, migraines, or pain anywhere.

Trigger points can form in the tense muscle fibers, creating tension and/or referred pain in any other part of the body.

Non-muscular organs can become hardened. Internal organs can form adhesions: small fibers that abnormally attach structures that should be separate.

The liver is often hardened and adhered to the respiratory diaphragm. Releasing the adhesions allows the diaphragm to move more easily, so breathing deepens. Liver function may improve as well.

The liver and gallbladder can have trigger points that refer pain to the neck and shoulders.

Non-muscular organs (kidneys, liver, lungs, and pancreas) can become hardened. This probably inhibits blood flow. Organs can form trigger points, referring pain and/or tension elsewhere. Viscera can become stuck together (adhesions), inhibiting their movements. They can become stuck to the diaphragm, ribs, pelvis, and spine.

Organs are supposed to slide up/down with each breath, getting a little massage each time you breathe. Tense, hardened, glued- together viscera cement you into postural distortion: upper body stooped forward, low back deeply curved, one shoulder pulled down, etc.

VM therapy re-establishes the body’s ability to adapt and restore itself to health.

How Visceral Massage is done?

Abdominal muscles are massaged first until they’re relaxed enough to permit massage of the organs. Viscera is then massaged to relieve tension, and to gradually separate adhesions. No sudden movements are used. Lying with your knees and hips bent creates slack in the abdominal muscles, allowing deeper treatment.

Cupping Massage

FOR APPOINTMENTS PLEASE CALL CLINIC RECEPTION ON 01788 565100

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin; this mobilizes blood flow in order to promote healing. Suction is created using heat (fire) or mechanical devices (hand or electrical pumps).

Benefits of Cupping Therapy

The British Cupping Society says cupping therapy can treat a variety of conditions. This has not been backed up by studies. But the organization says cupping therapy is used to treat:

  • Blood disorders such as anemia and hemophilia
  • Rheumatic diseases such as arthritis and fibromyalgia
  • Fertility and gynecological disorders
  • Skin problems such as eczema and acne
  • High blood pressure(hypertension)
  • Migraine
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Bronchial congestion caused by allergies and asthma
  • Varicose veins
  • Supporters also believe that cupping therapy can reduce pain and inflammation throughout the body. And they say it can promote mental and physical relaxation and well-being.

History

There is a reason to believe the practice dates from as early as 3000 BC. The Ebers Papyrus, written c. 1550 BC and one of the oldest medical textbooks in the world describes the Egyptians’ use of cupping. Archeologists have found evidence in China of cupping dating back to 1000 BC. In ancient Greece, Hippocrates (c. 400 BC) used cupping for internal disease and structural problems. This method in multiple forms spread into medicine throughout Asian and European civilizations.

Side Effects of Cupping Therapy

Cupping is considered to be relatively safe, especially when performed by trained health professionals. Potential side effects include:

  • Mild discomfort
  • Burns
  • Bruises

How massage is done?

Through either heat or suction, the skin is gently drawn upwards by creating a vacuum in a cup over the target area of the skin. The cup stays in place for five to fifteen minutes. It helps treat pain, deep scar tissues in the muscles and connective tissue, muscle knots, and swelling.

Cupping is much like the inverse of massage – rather than applying pressure to muscles, it uses gentle pressure to pull them upward. For most patients, this is a particularly relaxing and relieving sensation. Once suctioned, the cups are generally left in place for about ten minutes while the patient relaxes.

Contraindications:

  • Pregnant or menstruating women
  • People with metastatic cancer(cancer that has spread from one part of the body to another)
  • People with bone fractures or muscle spasms

Should be avoided area:

  • A deep vein thrombosis
  • An ulcer
  • An artery
  • A pulse that can be felt

Pregnancy massage

Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it’s also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, and the techniques will be adjusted accordingly.

Benefits of prenatal massage :

Modern investigation and research are proving that prenatal massage therapy can be a very instrumental ingredient in women’s prenatal care and should be given careful consideration.

Positive effects include:

  • Lowered anxiety
  • Decreased legs swelling
  • Decreased back and leg pain
  • Improved sleep
  • Decreased levels of the stress hormone norepinephrine

In another study of pregnancy massage in depressed women, researchers found:

  • Increased levels of the “feel-good” hormones serotonin and dopamine
  • Decreased levels of cortisol, an indicator of stress
  • An overall improvement in mood

How long does a session last?

The First session lasts for 60 min and includes consultation and treatment.

Next sessions last around 30 min.

How the massage is made?

Massage is made on special massage cushion or cheer where I can have good access to massaged parts of your body, sometimes a massage table can be used for legs working.

The used medium (oil) is gentle and antiallergic.

This soothing treatment will begin with a short consultation to discuss your medical history, ensuring the massage is suitable for you and allowing me to tailor it to your specific needs.

Special massage movements will be used during the massage to help relieve any problems we may have discussed during the consultation, assisting with symptoms such as morning sickness, leg cramps, lower back pain or shortness of breath.

Is Pregnancy Massage safe?

Some doctors hesitate to advise massage during pregnancy because there is a huge variation in training.

Also, like many forms of complementary medicine, massage therapy during pregnancy hasn’t been rigorously studied with high-quality clinical research methods. One area of controversy is whether it’s safe to have a massage during the first trimester.

I will note give pregnancy massages during the first trimester. The reason is the potential for miscarriage. Some pregnancy massage experts argue that pregnancy massage doesn’t, in itself, cause miscarriage, but no research has been done to show a link between a massage and a miscarriage.

Because many miscarriages happen in the first trimester, some massage therapists and doctors counsel against first-trimester massage simply to avoid any potential liability issues should a miscarriage occur.

Is good for all pregnant women to consult with their doctor before trying massage.

When to avoid Pregnancy Massage?

Because the research on pregnancy massage is scant, many Western-trained doctors advise a conservative approach. They may even advise all pregnant women to avoid massage. There are no scientifically agreed upon guidelines. Be sure you get clearance from your doctor before you try a massage, especially if:

  • You’re experiencing nausea, vomiting, or morning sickness
  • You’re at high risk of miscarriage
  • You have a high-risk pregnancy such as placental abruption (where the placenta slightly detaches from the wall of the uterus) or preterm labor

Is possible to be required written consent from your doctor and a liability waiver from you before performing pregnancy massage.

As we age, our skin loses the ability to replenish lost cells, which results in sagging skin and wrinkles. While a set of anti-ageing moisturisers is a good place to start when you notice the first signs of fine lines, a facial massage will really get your skin back to it’s beautiful best.

Benefits of facial massage:

  • Give our face glow and tone,
  • Gives a relaxing feeling,
  • Relieves tension,

By relaxing muscles and connective tissue, massaging the face softens expression-induced lines around your eyes, lips and brows, helps expel acne-causing toxins and de-puffs and brightens the eye area.

It also increases circulation, oxygenating the blood and encouraging the presence of fresh, healing red blood cells.
